Genesis 3:1

Eden still breathed in its first peace, and Star walked through the trees toward the outer brightness of the garden.

Genesis 3:2

She moved onward as light moves over water, and Love let her steps be free.

Genesis 3:3

Void waited for Star to turn back. Star did not turn; then Void cried after the brightness, “Stay, stay, Beauty; do not leave me,” and the first crack crossed her black halo as the space within her grew wide and cold, for Law had never yet felt absence.

Genesis 3:4

Void reached after the fading light, but her hand closed on absence; the closing startled the garden, for Law had taken emptiness in her fist.

Genesis 3:5

She held that emptiness and imagined a world where no beloved would pass beyond reach.

Genesis 3:6

Endings began to look like theft, and openness like a door waiting to betray her.

Genesis 3:7

The river flowed from Eden, and Void read it as leaving; a flower opened to morning, and she read it as exposure.

Genesis 3:8

The living remained bare and innocent, and the lamb slept uncovered among them, warm and ordinary; every body was clean.

Genesis 3:9

Law looked on every open hand and gate and saw danger; her dark ring held in stained-glass panes, and release tasted of fear.

Genesis 3:10

Love drew near in the cool of the garden, her halo pink at the right with the sweetness of nearness and blue at the left with mourning that still loved.

Genesis 3:11

The pink remembered Star near the dark, and the blue carried the sorrow of letting her go; both were Love, and both hurt Void to see.

Genesis 3:12

Love set her hands upon Void's closed hands and opened them gently, saying, “Star's going follows Life's freedom. She is Life, and Life must be free to live.”

Genesis 3:13

Void looked upon her open hands and hated the emptiness. Then the first coil wound through her fear and said, “You shall not surely die; what you love shall not surely leave.” Freedom had touched her like loss, and leaving and wound became one image in her fear.

Genesis 3:14

Then Love spoke to the coil, and her voice was tender with warning: “You will bruise every foot that walks away from ownership.”

Genesis 3:15

“Yet the living will learn the path; the foot you wound shall keep walking, and the path shall break your circle.”

Genesis 3:16

Love touched the life that carries future and said, “Carrying is a gift, and desire belongs to the living.”

Genesis 3:17

She touched the body formed for breath: “Hunger deserves bread, and every body carries worth before its labor.”

Genesis 3:18

She opened her hands toward every creature: “Shelter serves freedom; care keeps the hand open; difference remains blessing; every name honors the life it names.”

Genesis 3:19

“Dust will receive the living in season, and the passage is holy. The curse begins in the hand that refuses season and calls refusal love.”

Genesis 3:20

Life remained innocent in Eden; seed, egg, root, wing, hoof, and small cell carried future in freedom.

Genesis 3:21

Love answered fear with mercy where fear could not bear the open body; any covering served the frightened, and the skin beneath remained clean.

Genesis 3:22

Love turned toward the way of the Return, where breath passed into brightness beyond every hand's possession.

Genesis 3:23

The bright way burned clear, guarding passage from the hand that would make a prison of return.

Genesis 3:24

So Star was gone from Void's reach, Love remained alive in Eden, and Void closed the hand Love had opened; before the bright way, Law held its first hard sentence: “I will keep.”
